New Executive Producer: Changes on the Way!

Rebecca Kirshner is the new executive producer of 90210.

The woman in charge recently spoke with The Los Angeles Times about changes in store for the show. Here are highlights from the interview:

What can you tell us about Annie?
We’ve been thinking about her a lot. It’s always tricky to be the central person in any show or narrative, because “the hero” is often surrounded by these colorful characters, so it’s hard. But one thing we’ve been talking about making her a real teenage kid. One with struggles. One who doesn’t always get what she wants.

I think the way you grow up is by not getting what you want and then trying to get it and failing sometimes. Life for Annie has been breezy since moving to Beverly Hills. She’s only had a bit of romantic drama.

So things are going to get tougher for her. She’s had a good streak but there will be more challenges coming that will help define her.

Young Stars

Any particular stories you want to tell?
Right now, I really want to tell a pregnancy story where abortion is mentioned as a valid option. We’ll see. It’s not something I want to back down on.

I also want to do a fun episode that’s all dreams. The original series had a lot of dream-based episodes. I’d like to do an episode where we’re in the interconnected dreams of various characters. I want to write that one, too.

More 90210 Episodes on the Way!

What could be more exciting than Annie finally making out with Ethan?

How about two extra episodes of 90210 being ordered for this season?!?

According to Micael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, The CW is so pleased with the new 90210 that it's asked for two more hours of the series, bringing its first season total number of episodes for 24. We're gonna go celebrate by partying with Adrianna.
