Jennie Garth Returns to 90210!

Jennie Garth returns to 90210 tonight.

And before she opines on the outcome of her character's trip to visit Dylan, the actress shared her reason for coming back to the zip code that made her famous.

"The fans of the original were so devout for over 10 years - I'm doing this for them," she told The New York Post.

That's sweet and all - but what happened with Dylan?!?

"The trip didn't answer any questions for Kelly," Garth said. "Now, she's open to a new life without Dylan and that's the biggest sign that their time together didn't go as well as hoped."

Does this mean Kelly and Ryan still have a chance? But what about his burgeoning relationship with Kimberly?

Guess we'll need to tune in and find out!

Jennie Garth Comments on Co-Stars' Weight, Show Direction and More

In light of the recent criticism levied at 90210 stars Shenae Grimes and Jessica Stroup, Jennie Garth has been forced to comment on an uncomfortable topic.

Does she think the actresses have a weight problem?

"I don't know them personally that well, and I think that that's their private business," Garth told reporters at Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network's Respect Awards on Friday. "If I were the director or the producer or the showrunners, maybe I would deal with it differently."

As for the direction of the show itself, and whether or not the new characters are coming into their own, Garth said:

"It's a show of its own, it's starting to find its legs. Viewers are starting to accept the new characters, instead of worrying about the old characters quite so much, which is a good thing."

And will Garth be part of this good thing for the long run?

"One day at a time," she said. "I'm on episode 10. That's all I know!"

A Few Words from Jennie Garth

Prior to last night's Primetime Emmy Awards, Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello caught up with Jennie Garth.

Unfortunately, the actress said confirmation of her extended stay on 90210 was premature.

"I was signed on to do four [episodes], I ended up doing six, and I guess it broke that I was doing more," she said. "But nothing's confirmed at this point. It's still totally up in the air."

Kelly Confronts Ryan

Ryan Matthews certainly wants Kelly to settle down on 90210.

Garth also addressed talk that co-stars Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes were way (way, way) too thin.

"It's not my place [to address that issue]. I'm not a producer on the show. I just go in and do my thing and leave. I obviously care about the girls, but they seem healthy and happy, and they love what they're doing.

"If it would make it better," the actress concluded, "I will certainly make some cookies and take them to [the girls]."

Jennie Garth Speaks on Dylan Development

The most exciting development from last night's 90210 episode, of course, was that Dylan McKay is the father of Kelly's son, Sammy.

Jennie Garth spoke to People Magazine about the spilled secret after the show aired last night. Here are highlights from the interview:

What did you think when they told you Dylan was going to be the father?
It was very confusing for me because initially the idea of having a son was my idea. I thought it would bring a great amount of depth to my character. Then the question came up, ‘Well, who’s the father?’ And I really hadn’t thought it through that far. So, I was like, Oh, I guess need one of those. It’s gone back and forth: Who and what and when and why? I think they settled on Dylan because Kelly and Dylan had such a passionate relationship in the past. Their relationship was so heated. It was kind of undeniable.

Kelly, Dylan

Any chance Dylan will show up in a cameo?
I would love to work with Luke [Perry] again. I love him dearly. And I also would love to work with Jason [Priestley] again. It’s a great question for the producers. I would be nothing but totally happy to have either of them there.

Talk about this development now on our 90210 forum!

Jennie Garth to Stay; Shannen Doherty to Go

Brenda was nowhere to be seen on this week's episode of 90210.

And that may be something fans need to get used to, as Michael Ausiello is reporting that Shannen Doherty has turned down the chance to extend her stay on the series. She'll be on three more episodes and that's it.

"They asked me to do a lot more," Doherty said, but "I'm in the middle of pitching a show, [so] I couldn't commit to more than [I did]."

Shannen

Conversely, Kelly isn't going anywhere for awhile (which is good; she's got a four-year old to look after!): Jennie Garth has agreed to film five episodes beyond the six she had originally agreed to. We wonder if this means her romance with Ryan Matthews (Ryan Eggold) will really take off.

Are you sad to see Shannen do? Are you glad Jennie is staying?

Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty: The Entertainment Weekly Interview

Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty grace the cover of the latest Entertainment Weekly.

Inside, there's an interview with the reunited 90210 co-stars. Here are excerpts from it, as the actresses dish on the differences between the new series and the original:

EW: For the new 90210, you were both involved with determining where Kelly and Brenda were in their lives. Jennie, the producers initially wanted Kelly to be a West Beverly Hills High School board member, right? How did she become a guidance counselor?
GARTH: I didn’t want to be on the show for no reason. I wanted to have some value. When Gabe and [exec producer] Jeff [Judah] told me some of the things they were doing, I was like, ”Whoa. That is not 90210, people.” They were trying to educate me [about] how teens are in high school today. It was so shocking to me that I thought I should bring a positive spin somehow. Of course, I have yet to guide or counsel anyone.
DOHERTY: I think they must have told you the same things they told me.

EW: What kinds of things?
DOHERTY: All I know is there’s a girl giving a guy a b— job in the first episode.
GARTH: When they told me that, I thought, Aaron Spelling is rolling over in his grave right now.

Brenda and Kelly

Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth: The Love Fest Continues

Forget Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

The real pressing question of rivals coming together on a national stage involves Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth. As we've previously, reported, though, so far everything has been so good for these united 90210 stars.

“There was almost a comfort in knowing that I was getting to work with somebody who had been on the original with me and gone through the same experiences,” Doherty recently told Radar magazine.

“Like, ‘Okay we’ve been through the war together already.’ I never even gave any thought to it being awkward. I know how much I’ve grown up since then. I would assume that she’s grown up the same amount.”

Clashing Stars

As everyone knows, Doherty and Garth suffered through a particularly strained relationship on the original show. But Doherty is 37 now and Garth is 36; they've grown up.

Back on set together for the first tme in 14 years, Doherty said her and Garth talked about a common interest: Dancing with the Stars!

“I love that show,” Doherty said. “I wouldn’t be on it in a million years, but I wanted to see if she had fun doing it. I had so many questions about her kids and her husband too, but mostly Dancing with the Stars.”

Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty: Scene One... Action!

It's official: Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty have filmed their first scenes together for the new 90210.

And everyone made it out unscathed.

"It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm not much of a small talker, and I don't think she is either," Garth told TV Guide of the first filmed encounter. "I was a little nervous because I hadn't seen or talked to her in 14 years. Everyone was making it out to be such a big deal that I think we both fell prey to having that affect us."

Ryan Eggold, who plays a love interest for both Kelly and Brenda on 90210, described the dynamics between Garth and Doherty as "very interesting."

"Everybody was on pins and needles and sort of waiting to see how they'd react," he said. "They started off kind of tentative, but by the time we were five takes in, they were giggling and seemed to be reconnecting."

Jennie Garth Responds to Tori Spelling Departure

Various reports have said that Tori Spelling dropped out of 90210 because she was displeased with her salary, compared with that of Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty.

The former actress isn't sure if that's true or not, but she made it clear to Entertainment Weekly that there's no dispute between the actresses themselves.

“[The press thinks] we’re at war over salary with Tori. I didn’t know I was at war with Tori,” Garth said. “I’m really bummed because I love Tori and I was psyched Tori was going to be on the show. I think she should definitely get paid as much as either of us is getting paid. Her father created the show. It just seems wrong if that’s the case. I don’t know what really happened because I haven’t talked to her. I would like to talk to her.”

90210 actresses

Tori Spelling of no longer coming back to 90210. But Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth aren't pleased about that.

Doherty echoed those sentiments.

“They didn’t even get the numbers right,” the actress said, referring to stories that claimed her and Garth are receiving $35,000 - $50,000 per episode, about twice what Spelling was offered. "So I don’t know if it’s about the money, either.”
